For this song, I took questions I had, put them in an order, and made a song. This was an exercise in free associating all the things on my mind both big and small. I ask about my lunch, I ask deep introspective questions about myself, I even ask what day it is. We all move from big to small questions every day. We have to zoom in to small details and zoom out to big picture items that could impact our entire lives. It’s tricky and I’m proud of you.
The Punch Up part of this was my way of bringing in energy to the flow. Punching up is a message I think we need to consider more often in our modern day society that reveres those who live ‘above us’. We need more accountability and shared responsibility and I think the idea of punching up can contribute to that. Enjoy this short and energetic track about the questions of life and a mantra of empowering all of us instead of a tiny group of us.
Lyrics
What will I eat today
Where will I find some prey
How can I go away
When will snow stop my decay
How many days til my birthday
Is the start of the year always grey
How many meetings - am I halfway
When is the next holiday
How many will be betrayed
Why don’t I just go play
Why are there so many strays
How can i be more sway
Why can’t people avoid cliches
Is it still Sunday
If I point where will it spray
What does it take to slay
Why do we stare at flames
Will we ever be ok
When will I get to go to a cafe
How can I avoid the fray
Why do i feel the need to obey
Is it just in my DNA
How can I ever repay
Am I further than halfway
